Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has said that Malaysia, in principle, has decided to recruit a large number of Bangladeshi workers in the days to come.

"Malaysia, in principle, has decided to take a significant number of workers from Bangladesh ... the country has also assured of ensuring proper wages, security, and overall welfare of the workers," Asif said in a post on his verified Facebook account.

Asif, also Youth and Sports Adviser, mentioned that the development came following a recent meeting between Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul and high officials of the Malaysian Ministry of Human Resources in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Two major highlights of the discussion were: ensuring proper wages as well as benefits for the existing Bangladeshi workers, and preparing a well-balanced framework for sending new Bangladeshi workers under a transparent recruitment policy, reports BSS.
