Bangladesh Gets More Diesel via India Pipeline Route

Bangladesh has begun receiving an additional 5,000 tonnes of diesel from India through the cross-border pipeline, officials familiar with the process said.

Parbatipur Padma Oil Depot Manager Md Ahsan Habib Chowdhury said the latest shipment is arriving at the depot via the India–Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline. He noted that the delivery started on Thursday morning.

Earlier, 8,000 tonnes of diesel reached the Parbatipur depot from Numaligarh in India on 14 April, while 22,000 tonnes were received in March. In total, 30,000 tonnes have been delivered to the depot from India between March and mid-April.

Officials said another 7,000 tonnes are expected to arrive from Numaligarh Refinery Limited within the next four to five days. Overall, Bangladesh is set to receive around 25,000 tonnes of diesel in April.

Authorities said the continued pipeline imports are helping maintain stable fuel stocks and ensure uninterrupted supply across the country.

The depot remained operational even on Friday, its weekly holiday, to support smooth distribution of fuel.
