India’s Adani Power has resumed operation of its Unit-2 of Godda Thermal Power Station in full scale supplying electricity to Bangladesh's national grid after a pause of three days,” Power Development Board (BPDB) official said today.

BPDB member Mohammad Jahurul Islam  said power supply from the Godda plant's Unit-2 resumed at 12:04pm today while the quantum was increased to 1450 MW at 6 PM as it Unit 2 restarted full scale generation.

Power generation of the Unit-2 remain suspended since Thursday midnight due to technical fault, according to Adani Power sources.

Bangladesh imports electricity from Adani Power under a 25-year power purchase agreement signed in 2017 to purchase 1,600 MW from its coal-fired power plant in Godda.

Data from the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) showed that Adani Power had been supplying around 800-1,000 MW to Bangladesh since mid-August.

The plant, comprising two 800-MW units, supplies electricity exclusively to Bangladesh under the long-term agreement with the BPDB, reports BSS.
