Fuel Prices May Fall if Global Oil Prices Decline: Amit
The government will take steps to reduce domestic fuel prices if international oil prices decline, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has said.
He made the remarks while attending a meeting of the health management committee of Jashore General Hospital on Friday.
Amit said there was currently no plan to increase fuel prices further. If global oil prices fall, the government will try to adjust domestic fuel prices to provide relief to consumers.
He also said the government was hopeful that the ongoing crisis in the Middle East would ease, allowing international fuel prices to decline and domestic prices to be adjusted accordingly.
Regarding the recent gas supply disruption, Amit said the temporary problem had been resolved and gas supplies had returned to normal.
