Titas' drive in Sonargaon: 900 illegal connections snapped

Dhaka, February 2: The Energy and Mineral Resources Department and Titas Gas conducted a day-long operation in the areas adjacent to Haturapara and Nayapur fields in Sonargaon, Narayanganj today through a mobile court to investigate the illegal disconnection of state-owned gas. In the operation, illegal gas connections were disconnected at 4 spots and immediate fines were given to the owners of sweet factories through a mobile court for illegal gas connections.

In the operation, about 3 kilometers of distribution lines and 900 illegal residential stoves in 700 houses were disconnected at 4 spots. During this time, the entire section of 20 feet with a diameter of 2 inches, 40 feet with a diameter of 1.5 inches and 30 feet with a diameter of 1 inch were removed and seized by excavators and each illegal distribution line was sealed and capped from the source point.

The illegal source points of 3 sweet factories adjacent to Nayapur market were cut and sealed. At that time, the mobile court fined the owner Tk 30,000 for illegally using the gas connection.
