On the day, a special operation was conducted by Titas Gas' Metro Dhaka Gas Sales Division-2, raided two unnamed illegal factories in Doleshwar under South Keraniganj.
An illegal wire manufacturing factory was using two steam boilers and two gas nozzles to steal 1,800 cubic feet of gas per hour. Another washing factory was using four dryers and a boiler to illegally consume 1,700 cubic feet of gas per hour.
The illegal gas supply has been disconnected, saving gas worth an estimated Taka 7.42 lakh per month. The operation was conducted by Executive Magistrate (Senior Assistant Secretary) Monija Khatun.
In another drive, illegal gas connections of two unauthorized lime factories (with a total of 10 kilns) in Baluakandi and Bhater Char areas under Jobia-Meghnaghat were evicted.

As the factory owners were not found on the spot, it was not possible to impose jail terms or fines through the mobile court.
However, a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed against the kiln owners or landowners at Gazaria Thana.
After disconnecting the gas connection of the illegal lime factory, the structure was demolished using an excavator, and the fire was brought under control with the help of the Fire Service and Civil Defense, Gazaria.
