Police working to make Eid journey comfortable: IGP



Dhaka, June 14 - All units of police are working together to make the Eid journey of the holidaymakers comfortable and to keep the traffic system normal, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has said.

Besides, unfit vehicles will not be allowed on the highway to maintain order on the roads and prevent road accidents, he said.

The IGP was talking to reporters while inspecting traffic management on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Friday afternoon.

He said that RAB, Highway Police, Industrial Police, Railway Police, River Police, APBN, District Police and other police units are working together to ensure a comfortable Eid journey for the countrymen.

The IGP stated that the policemen considered it their pleasure to ensure the happiness of the people by giving up their own Eid celebrations.

"Service is the festival of police, service is the joy of police," he added.

Chowdhury also said that strict action would be taken against anyone who tried to take sacrificial animals from one haat to another haat.

Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Md Atiqul Islam, Additional IG of Highway Police Md Shahabuddin Khan and DIG Md Mahfuzul Islam, DIG Dhaka Range Syed Nurul Islam, Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Mahbubul Alam, Gazipur District Superintendent of Police Kazi Shafiqul Alam, Dhaka District Police Super Md. Asaduzzaman and other officials were also present.-UNB
