Russia Day shines at Russian House Dhaka
The Russian House in Dhaka on Wednesday ( June 4) hosted a vibrant celebration marking the Day of Russia, drawing over 300 participants from various sectors of Bangladeshi society.
The event commenced with the Russian national anthem, followed by welcoming remarks from distinguished guests. Speakers underscored the historic contributions of the Soviet Union to the formation of Bangladesh, emphasizing the USSR's vital support during the country's struggle for independence in 1971.
A highlight of the celebration was a cultural program featuring spirited performances of traditional Russian songs and dances, including popular numbers like “Kalinka,” “Katyusha,” “Russia Will Remain Russia,” and “Kadril.” A photo exhibition dedicated to the Day of Russia also captivated the audience, offering visual insight into Russian history and culture.
The event brought together representatives from government agencies, youth and public organizations, educational and research institutions, university students, Bangladeshi cultural personalities, and members of the Russia-Bangladesh Friendship Society and the Soviet Association Alumni of Bangladesh. Russian diplomats and compatriots also participated, reinforcing the longstanding bond between the two nations.
The celebration served as a testament to the enduring friendship and cultural ties between Russia and Bangladesh.
