Foolproof security at Jatiya Eidgah for holding Eid Jamaat smoothly

Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Shafiqul Islam today said foolproof security has been ensured at Jatiya  Eidgah for holding Eid Jamaat smoothly.

"Muslim devotees, who will come for prayers at Jatiya Eidgah on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, will not be allowed to bring anything except prayer  mats and umbrellas," he told reporters after inspecting security measures of  the congregation ground.

Regarding security measures taken by the DMP, Shafiqul said, "Four-tier  security measures have been taken at Jatiya Eidgah area. DMP's bomb disposal  unit and dog squad have already been deployed at the Eidgah ground."

He said adequate number of law enforcement agencies will be deployed, adding, 

"The entire area will be covered by close circuit television (CCTV) cameras  and all CCTV cameras will be monitored real time from the temporary control  room set up at the Jatiya Eidgah."

The DMP chief requested all devotees to arrive at the Eid congregation earlier than the scheduled time as the security check posts have been set up  at the Eidgah ground. 

Responding to a question about security arrangements during the Eid vacation in the city, he said, "We have deployed additional force to 50 police stations and 2500 force will be on duty every night."

"At least 500 mobile teams will be deployed in the city to ensure security and each police station will form 10 mobile teams during the Eid vacation,"  Shafiqul said.

Police personnel have already arrested about 500 snatchers and thieves from the city.

Additional Commissioners Mir Rezaul Alam, Krishnapad Roy, AKM Hafeez Akter, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime chief Md Asaduzzaman, Md Munibur Rahman and senior police officers were present, reports BSS.
