The government has promoted two deputy managing directors (DMDs) of state-owned financial institutions to managing director (MD) positions.

The Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance issued separate notifications in this regard on Thursday (September 3).

According to the notifications, Ms Meher Sultana, DMD of Karmasangsthan Bank, has been appointed managing director of Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation (BHBFC) in Grade 1 of the National Pay Scale 2015.

Meanwhile, Kazi Abdur Rahman, DMD of Janata Bank PLC, has been promoted and appointed managing director of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB).

The appointments bring new leadership to two important state-owned financial institutions.

The notifications said the terms and conditions of service of the appointed officials will be governed by the “Policy on Nomination, Appointment, Promotion and Posting to the Posts of Managing Director, Deputy Managing Director and General Manager of State-Owned Commercial Banks, Specialised Banks and Financial Institutions, 2025”, along with government directives issued from time to time.

The orders, issued in the public interest, will take effect immediately.

The latest appointments come amid a series of changes in the top management of state-owned banks and financial institutions. The government has been making leadership changes across the sector as part of efforts to strengthen governance, accountability and management efficiency.
