45 shops, houses gutted in Bandarban fire

At least 30 shops and 15 dwelling houses were gutted in a fire at Thanchi Bazar in Bandarban district on Saturday.



At least 30 shops and 15 dwelling houses were gutted in a fire at Thanchi Bazar in Bandarban district on Saturday.
The fire broke out at 8 am at a shop and engulfed the adjoining shops and houses, said Thoaiha Mong Marma, chairman of Thanchi upazila.
On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one and half an hour.
The fire service sources said the fire might have originated from an oven.
On March 22, 47 shops were gutted in a fire at Bolibazar area in Bandarban’s Thanchi upazila.
No causalities were reported.
