Gazipur, June 13 – Ten houses and a jhut (discarded fabric pieces from garment factories) godown were gutted in a fire at Konabari Ambagan Colony in Gazipur city on Saturday night.
Abdul Hamid, Deputy assistant director of Joydebpur Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire broke out in the house of one Ismail Hossain around 8:30 am and engulfed the adjoining nine houses and the godown.
On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one hour of frantic effort.
However, what caused the fire could not be known immediately.
The actual extent of losses caused by the fire will be known after investigation, said Hamid. - UNB
