4 shops, warehouses gutted in Gazipur fire



Gazipur, Apr 18 - Four shops and several warehouses, used to keep daily essential products, were gutted in a fire that broke out at Alupotti in Tongi Bazar of Gazipur on Wednesday midnight.

The fire broke out at a warehouse around 11:45 pm near Tongi Sonavan Market and spread soon, said Shafiqul Islam, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defense (Uttara zone).

Onion, potato and daily essential items were stored in the warehouses.

Five firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one hour.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be determined immediately.-UNB
