Fire at Sundarban Courier Service at Kallayanpur in the capital

Dhaka, Nov 13 - A fire that broke out in a store room of Sundarban Courier Service in Dhaka’s Kallyanpur branch was brought under control nearly five hours of frantic efforts.

Rakibul Hasan, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters, said the fire erupted around 2:30am in the store room.

On information, four firefighting units responded to the distress call and extinguished it around 7:22am, he added.

He said that the firefighters tightly handled the fire so that it couldn’t engulf a nearby refueling station and a high-rise building.

The extent of the damages caused by the fire couldn’t be known immediately, the fire service officer said.

Employees of the courier service suspected the fire might have originated from chemicals in the store room.-UNB
