A major fire broke out at a carton factory in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) on Saturday evening, prompting an urgent response from the Fire Service. Eight fire units were deployed to battle the flames, which had yet to be brought under control after more than an hour of efforts.

The fire erupted at Unity Accessories, a factory located near the BEPZA gate in the EPZ, around 6:10 PM. Firefighters from the EPZ, Port, and Agrabad stations rushed to the scene as soon as the alarm was raised. Despite their combined efforts, the blaze continued to rage, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.

Kafil Uddin, the acting officer at the Chittagong Fire Service's control room, confirmed that all eight fire units were working tirelessly to extinguish the fire. Meanwhile, Assistant Director Mohammad Abdul Malek stated that an investigation into the cause of the fire would be conducted, though it is not yet clear what triggered the incident.

The fire has raised concerns about the safety protocols in the industrial area, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
