Fire guts 57 dwellings in 2 Gazipur colonies

Fire at Konabari Ambagan area of Gazipur



Gazipur, Dec 25 - At least 57 dwellings were gutted in a fire in two colonies in the Konabari Ambagan area of Gazipur late Tuesday, according to the Fire Service.

Mohammad Mamun, deputy assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), said the fire originated in one of the dwellings and spread fast around 12 am.

Being informed, four firefighting units from two stations rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control after one and a half hours of efforts, he added.

The cause of the fire and extent of the damages will be known upon investigation, the Fire Service official said, adding that the low-income people used to live in the dwellings.-UNB
