A devastating fire broke out early Sunday morning in a nightclub in Kocani, a southern town in North Macedonia, leaving 51 dead and nearly 100 injured, as confirmed by Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski.

The blaze erupted around 2:35 a.m. during a performance by a local pop band. Toshkovski stated that the fire was triggered when young clubgoers used pyrotechnics, causing the roof to catch fire. Disturbing footage from social media shows chaotic scenes inside the venue.

As relatives of the victims gathered outside hospitals and local offices, seeking answers, police arrested one individual, though the nature of their involvement remains unclear.
