A three-member committee has been formed to probe the fire which broke out at the abandoned scrap yard of Patuakhali 1320 MW thermal power plant in Patuakhali district on Sunday.

The committee, headed by Supervising Engineer Abdul Halim, was formed to look into the fire, said Md Selim Bhuiya, managing director of the thermal power plant.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within two working days.

Earlier, a fire broke out at the scrap yard of the power plant, 600 yards away from the power plant on Sunday afternoon, said Supervising Engineer Md Ashraf Uddin.

On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 10:30 pm, reports UNB.
