Father, son killed in Moulvibazar oil line fire

A father and his son died after being burned in a fire caused by an oil line leakage from Petro Bangla in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar.


The son, Redwan, 24, died early Friday morning around 4:15 am, while the father, Bashir Mia, 55, passed away around 9 am at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute while receiving treatment, reports UNB.

Bashir Mia’s home is in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar.

Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, confirmed the deaths.

He said that on September 24, three members of the same family were admitted to the hospital with severe burns.

“Redwan had burns over 56 percent of his body, while Bashir Mia’s burns covered 85 percent. Currently, Parvin, another family member, is receiving treatment for burns over 50 percent of her body,” he added.
