23 businesses establishment gutted in Khagrachari fire

Twenty three business establishments were gutted in a fire at Mahalchhari Bazar of the district early hours of today.


The fire broke out in the main market around 12.30 am from a shop and soon engulfed the adjacent shops.

Fire Service Deputy Director Zaker Hossain said the fire was brought under control after five hours of efforts. 

Two units of the fire service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control with the help of rainwater. Later, with the help of locals, army and fire service members were able to completely extinguish the fire. 

The fire was completely controlled around 5 am.

However, 23 shops were burnt, included shoe shops, food hotels, cosmetics, clothes, grocery and gold shops. 

Traders of the market claimed that the fire caused damage worth Taka 4 to 5 crore, reports BSS. 

However, the extent of the damage has not been determined yet.
