A fire that broke out at a Rohingya camp in Ukhia on Sunday noon was brought under control shortly after it started.

The fire originated at the office of NGO Caritas in D Block of Camp-4 in Ukhia around noon, said Ukhia Fire Service Station Officer Dollar Tripura.

On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control with assistance from members of the camp’s APBN, volunteers and local residents.

However, a storeroom of Caritas containing various goods was gutted in the fire, reports UNB.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, he added.
