
Coast Guard seizes marine fish worth Tk 39 lakh in Kalapara
Patuakhali: Bangladesh Coast Guard, Nizampur Contingent has seized a huge quantity of marine fish in Kalapara, Patuakhali. The special operation was conducted in the area adjacent to Hajipur Toll Plaza on Thursday (May 14) morning.
During the operation, approximately 10,500 kg of various species of marine fish worth about Tk 39 lakh were seized after searching two suspicious passenger buses. Later, the seized fish was distributed among local orphanages, madrasas, poor and needy people in the presence of the concerned fisheries officer.
Kalapara Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said in this regard that regular operations are being conducted to implement the government's ban on the conservation of marine fish resources. Such operations will continue in the future.
Bangladesh Coast Guard South Zone Media Officer Lieutenant Md. Abul Kashem said that the Coast Guard is always vigilant to protect the country's marine fisheries resources and strict action will be taken against those who violate the ban. - Gofran Palash
