Goalondu (Rajbari), July 20 -- Believe it or not, a fisherman in Goalondu has pulled out two giant Pangash fishes, weighing 47kg, from the estuary of the Padma river.
Haldar, the lucky fisherman, told reporters he caught the two collosal-sized fish while fishing in the river off the coast of Goalondu upazila, along with his friends, in the river in the early hours of Wednesday.
Haldar later auctioned the two giant fish —one weighing 28 kg and another 19 kg -- for a sum of Taka 62,000.. Md Chandu Mollah, a local fish trader, bought the two fishes..
Mohammad Rezaul Sharif, Goalondu upazila fisheries officer, said big fishes are usually netted during the monsoon. "We need to protect such species of fish." - UNB
