10 lakh pieces of lobster fries seized in Kalapara

Patuakhali: Coast Guard personnel intercepted a truck with 10 lakh pieces of lobster shirmp at Kalapara in Patuakhali. At 10:30 pm on Thursday night, raids were conducted in Umedpur area of Kalapara-Kuakata highway and these shrimp were seized.

Later, in the presence of Upazila Fishery Officer, these shirmp were released in Sonatala river. The truck driver was released along with the truck after giving a bond that he would not carry shirmp any more.

The price of these recovered shirmps is about 20 lakhs. Nizampur Coast Guard Contingent Commander Matiur Rahman said that the operation of the Coast Guard to stop shirmp hunting has continued. 

Those involved in shirmp poaching will be brought to justice. – Goftan Biswas Polash
