Tokyo, January 29: An agreement was signed between BFDC and JDC-KONIK Joint Venture for the implementation of the Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) Fish Landing Center Development Project in Cox's Bazar district today at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. The project is being implemented with the grant assistance of the Japanese government.

Welcoming everyone present at the agreement signing ceremony, Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali thanked the Japanese government for its continued support and cooperation in the development of Bangladesh. Referring to Japan as the single largest development partner of Bangladesh, the ambassador said that this cooperation is gradually expanding in various fields including trade and commerce, agriculture, infrastructure, communication, health, education and human resource development. He expressed hope that the friendly relations between the two countries will further strengthen in the future.

It is worth noting that on March 28, 2024, a grant agreement of 2.294 billion Japanese Yen (168.31 crore in Bangladeshi Taka) was signed between ERD and JICA for the development of the Cox's Bazar Fish Landing Center. If the project is implemented, modern technology and facilities will be added to the Cox's Bazar Fish Landing Center and the capacity of fish landing will be greatly increased.
