After the election, meat prices will be adjusted again.
Meat traders have decided to sell beef at Tk650 per kg across Bangladesh including the capital.
The price will be effective from Thursday till the national election.
After the election, meat prices will be adjusted again.
The decision was taken at a meeting between the Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association (BDFA) and Bangladesh Meat Traders Association (BMTA) on Wednesday.
Each kilogram of beef will contain 750 grams of meat, 200 grams of bone and 50 grams of fat.
The National Consumers' Rights Protection (DNCRP) arranged a seminar on Sunday where meat traders, the Bangladesh Dairy Farmers’ Association (BDFA), the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission, supershop representatives, and Khalil Ahmed, a meat seller from Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur area, discussed this issue of beef price.
Others engaged in a heated argument with Khalil and representatives from CAB.
The meeting ended in a rumpus without reaching any decision.
DNCRP Director General AHM Shafiquzzaman instructed the traders to set the price and inform the department at that time.
