Dhaka, Feb 19- Zubaida Rahman, wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, and their daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman on Thursday took iftar with orphan students at a women’s madrasah in the capital on the first day of Ramadan.
They joined the iftar at Jamia Qurbaniya Talimia Dawra Hadis Mohila Madrasah and Orphanage in West Bhashantek under Dhaka-17 seat, said BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
Before the iftar, Zubaida and Zaima spoke with the orphan students and enquired about their well-being.
Tarique Rahman is the MP from Dhaka-17 constituency.
Local BNP leaders said arrangements have been made to provide iftar, dinner and sehri throughout Ramadan to residents of 14 orphanages and hifzia madrasahs in the Korail slum and Bhashantek areas.
In previous years, former BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and party senior leaders used to take iftar on the first day of Ramadan with orphans and Islamic scholars.
However, no such central programme was held this year. - UNB
