Bangladesh conceded a 2-0 goal defeat to host Uzbekistan in their AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifying round opening match held on Monday last might at the Do'stlik Stadium in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is far ahead of Bangladesh in terms of strength, and the same disparity exists between the two countries' youth teams.

However, given the way Uzbekistan dominated the game against Bangladesh, there were concerns that Bangladesh might suffer a heavy defeat.

Thanks to the solid performance of goalkeeper Raj Chowdhury and the resolute defending, Bangladesh managed to restrict Uzbekistan to just a few goals.

Uzbekistan scored once in the first half, with their second goal coming in the second half.

Bangladesh will play their next match against Syria on September 3. Syria lost their opening match 1-0 to India.

The eight group winners and seven best runners-up from the qualifying round will advance to the AFC U-20 Asian Cup finals, reports BSS.
