DHAKA – Bangladesh suffered a massive jolt ahead of the Oman match as the team will miss the service of four important players, including team’s skipper Jamal Bhuyan, due to injury and card problem.

Apart from Jamal Bhuyan, defender Rahmat Mia and midfielder Biplu Ahmed will miss the Oman match for card problem while another midfielder Masuk Mia Jony will miss his next match due to injury problem.

Bangladesh team’s manager Iqbal Hossain said Jony suffered injury in the last match against India. An MRI test of Jony was done on Tuesday last and the doctor advised him to take two weeks rest.

He said Jamal Bhuyan, Rahmat Mia and Biplu Ahmed will also not be able to play their next match due to card problems as per the regulation of FIFA.

Iqbal informed that the rest of the players are well and fit and would play their next match against Oman.

Midfielder Biplo Ahmed said though he would not be able to play the Oman match due to card problems but he has kept continuing practice with their other team members.

He said it would be the best opportunity for the rest of the team to give their best effort to snatch a respectable result against Oman in absence of four important players.

After an impressive performance playing 1-1 draw with Afghanistan, naturally the expectation was high from the Bangladesh team in their second match because all expected a good result against India, but Jamie Day’s men lost concentration in the last eleven minutes and conceded two goals.

Defender Riyadul Hasan Rafi also found frustrated with the result with India.

“Actually we all are mentally disappointed as we lost the last match against India ……..we tried our level best to snatch point but it was not possible for us at last and conceded two goals in the last moment of the match,” said Rafi.

He said they are now focusing on the Oman match and, despite missing some key players, they are upbeat to give maximum effort to snatch a respectable result.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh team, split into two groups, completed their gym session this morning and the booters are expected to have their training session at Qatar University ground from 7 pm to 9 pm (BST) this evening.

Bangladesh, placed bottom of group E with two points, will play their last match against Oman scheduled to be held on June 15.

The green jersey earlier played to a 1-1 draw with Afghanistan in their first match of the qualifiers but suffered a 0-2 goal defeat to neighbor India in their second match.BSS
