Riviera becomes title sponsor of Independence Cup

DHAKA - Riviera Composite Industries Limited become the title sponsor for the 11th Independence Cup Football which will begin from Saturday (Nov 27) at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city's Kamalapur. 

   Ahead of the tournament, a sponsor signing ceremony between Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and Riviera Composite Industries Limited was held today (Tuesday) at conference room of BFF Bhaban.

  BFF's senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP, and Riviera Composite Industries Limited's chief executive director Reazul Karim penned for their respective organizations. The signing ceremony was followed by draw and logo unveiling ceremony of the tournament.

   Apart from main sponsor Riviera Composite Industries Limited, Premier Bank Limited and IFIC Bank are the co sponsors of the meet.

   "We could not arrange all the tournaments or competitions last year due to COVID-19 , but now we have more time in hand to arrange those competitions and we want start the new football season though the Independence Cup marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and fifty years of Independence.

   We want to give the right message of independence to the new general through the Independence Cup, he added. 

   Fifteen teams, twelve teams from premier league and three services teams, split into four groups, will take part in the Independence Cup. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals which will be followed by the semifinals and the final. The final of the tournament is slated on December 18. 

   Grouping: Group A - Abahani Limited, Dhaka, Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society and Swadhinata Krira Sangha.

   Group B - Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanondi Club, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, Uttar Baridhara Club and Air Force football team. 

   Group C - Saif Sporting Club, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra and Army Football Club.

   Group D - Bashundhara Kings, Chattogram Abahani Limited, Bangladesh Police Football Club and Navy Football Club.BSS
