Khaka, 26 Oct : Bangabandhu Divisional Gold Cup Football Tournament Boys (U-17) and Bangamata Divisional Gold Cup Football Tournament Girls (U- 17) began here yesterday.
KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque inaugurated the tournament as chief guest at the premises of Khulna Divisional Women Sports Complex by releasing balloons and festoons where additional divisional commissioner (revenue) Md. Tabibur Rahman was in the chair.
The city mayor while speaking regarding the importance of sports, said sports always helps to develop the body and refresh the mind.
Besides, Football is a popular game not only in our country but also all over the world, he added.
After returning to the state power in 2009, the present government took a look into the sports especially at football so that Bangladesh can qualify in the FIFA World Cup Football, he said.
Khulna District Administration and District Sports Council jointly organized the opening ceremony in cooperation with the Directorate of Sports.

Additional District Magistrate Mir Alif Reza, General Secretary of Divisional Sports Association S M Mortaza Rashidi Dara, Deputy Director of Divisional National Sports Council of Khulna and Barisal Md. Abul Hossain Howladar were present on the occasion.
Mentionable, a total of 11 boy football teams and 11 girl football teams have been participating from all 10 districts of the division.
