Mohammedan emerge group champions

Dhaka, 13 Feb - Nigerian forward Sunday Emmanuel scored a brace Mohammedan Sporting Club emerged group B champions as they came from behind beat their arch-rival Abahani Limited by 2-1 goals in their ultimate group match of the Federation Cup held at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.
 
Apart from Sunday's two goals in the match, Saint Vincent forward Cornelius Stewart netted a lone goal for Abahani Limited.
 
Cornelius Stewart put Abahani Limited ahead in the 39th minute with a placing shot utilizing a pass from Washington Brandao.
 
Mohammedan however staged a brilliant fight back after the breather. Sunday restored the parity for Mohammedan taking a pass from Muzaffar Muzaffarov in the 51st minute.
 
The Nigerian forward Sunday sealed the victory scoring the second goal for Abahani Limited with a push from the close range before Ivorian midfielder Dosso Sidik back goal-bound back head came to his way in the 55th minute of the match. 
 
After falling behind, the sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani could not even try to return to the match. On the contrary Mohammedan presented good brand of football than Abahani and created lots of scoring opportunities to widen the gap during the proceeding. 
 
Abahani could not fight back in the match and eventually they had to leave the field with empty hand.
 
Sunday of Mohammedan was named the player of the match for his impressive performance in the match.
