Dhaka Abahani lose valuable points

Dhaka, 17 Feb - Abahani Limited, Dhaka, despite taking early lead in the first half, lost their valuable points as they were forced by Chittagong Abahani Limited to play a 2-2 goal draw in the Bangladesh Premier League football held at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Saturday.
 
Saint Vincent forward Cornelius Stewart struck twice for Dhaka Abahani while Nigerian forward Ojukwu David Ifegwu scored both the goals for Chittagong Abahani Limited.
 
Stewart put Abahani Limited ahead early converting a spot kick in the 9th minute from a penalty while he doubled the lead scoring the second goal in the 36th minute of the match.
 
Chittagong Abahani Limited however staged a brilliant fight back just before the breather as Ifegwu pulled one back scoring the first goal in the 45+3rd minute from a spot kick and eventually after the break he restored the parity for Chittagong Ahabani Limited scoring his second goal in the 54th minute.
 
After that both the teams got several scoring chances but failed to take the lead lack of proper finishing.
 
Dhaka Abahani Limited dominated the first half of the match while Chittagong Abahani Limited staged a fight back and denied their rival's victory scoring the two goals courtesy of Ifegwu.
 
With the day's outcome, the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Dhaka Abahani collected 14 points from eight matches while the port city team Chittagong Abahani Limited bagged 10 points playing the same number of matches.
