Chargolabari, Tepurgari win Bangabandhu, Bangamata primary school gold cup titles

DHAKA, April 20, 2024 (BSS) - Chargolabari Government Primary School of Jamalpur and Tepurgari BK Government Primary School of Lalmonirhat clinched the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup titles beating their respective rivals in the finals held at Banani Army Stadium on Saturday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina graced the finals as the chief guest and distributed the prizes.

In the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Primary School football final, Chargolabari Government Primary School of Jamalpur emerged champions beating Talimganj Government Primary School of Rangpur by 2-1 goals while Tepurgari BK Government Primary School of Lalmonirhat emerged champions beating Bancharampur Model Government Primary School of Chattogram division by 3-1 goals in the Bangamata Gold Cup Primary School football final.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Rumana Ali, its Secretary Farid Ahmed, Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed and Bangladesh Football Federation President Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin were also present.

In 2023, 11 lakh 11 thousand 18 boys from 65 thousand 354 schools across the country and 11 lakh 11 thousand 18 girls from 65 thousand 354 schools participated in this football tournaments from union to national level.

Sixteen teams from eight divisions participate in two tournaments at the national level.
