Abahani edges past Sheikh Russel in BPL
Dhaka, 26 Apr- Abahani Limited Dhaka recorded a hard-fought solitary goal victory over Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in the ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League football held at Bashundhara Kings on Friday.
After the barren first half, Brazilian midfielder Bruno Goncalves Rocha finally broke the deadlock scoring the all-important goal for Abahani Limited in the 74th minute of the match.
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra however tried their best to stage a fight back in the match but they could not score any goal in the remaining proceeding and eventually they had to leave the field with empty hand.
With the day's win, the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited, currently stand at third position in the points table with 25 points from 13 matches while Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra placed at eighth position in the league table with their previous collection of 11 points playing the same number of matches.
Earlier, in the first round matches, Abahani Limited beat Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by 3-1 goals held at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj.
