Kings taste first victory in BPL

Dhaka, Feb 7, 2022- Defending champions Bashundhara Kings recorded their first victory when they edged past Uttar Baridhara Club by a lone goal in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League Football held today at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

In the day’s match, Bashundhara’s Bosnia and Herzegovina forward Stojan Vranješ scored the all-important goal for Kings in the 27th minute of the match and they maintained the lead till the final whistle.

After the breather, Baridhara however tried heart and soul to stage a fight back in the match but they failed to create any real scoring chance. As a result they had to leave the field empty handed.   

Bashundhara Kings will play their next match against Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra scheduled to be held at Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi, Gazipur on February 12 while Uttar Baridhara will play against Swadhinata Krira Sangha on February 14 Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.   

Earlier, in the first round, star-studded Bashundhara Kings made a losing start in the league when they went down to a solitary goal defeat to new comer Swadhinata Krira Sangha at Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi.

Tuesday’s matches: Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra vs Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi, Gazipur and Bangladesh Police Football Club vs Abahani Limited, Dhaka at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
