Tk 1 crore rewarded to Women’s SAFF Champions

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan given a reward of Tk 1 crore for the seven-nation SAFF Women's unbeaten champions Bangladesh Women's Football team.


The Sports Adviser gave the reward on behalf of the Youth and Sports Ministry while he made a courtesy call with the women's footballers at the BFF office in Dhaka's Motijheel Thursday evening.

The sports adviser said, "Our chief adviser is very keen to meet the national heroine and will accord a reception for them on Saturday (Nov 2) at 11 am at his official residence. "

Earlier, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also announced an award of Tk 20 lakh for the Bangladesh women’s national football team,  which won the SAFF Women’s Championship title for the 2nd time in a row, beating 6th time finalists and hosts Nepal by 2-1 goals in the final in Kathmandu on Wednesday evening.

Earlier, the Bangladesh women's football team landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 2:15 pm on Thursday, where BFF officials received the players with bouquets and heartfelt congratulations.

After clearing airport formalities, the celebrated team embarked on a jubilant procession to the BFF office in Motijheel, travelling by open-roof bus, mostly on elevated expressway while proudly displaying the SAFF trophy, reports UNB.
