Rahmatganj upset 10-men Mohammedan in Federation Cup

Dhaka, 10 Dec - Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society got off winning start when they edged past 10-men Mohammedan Sporting Club by a solitary goal in their opening group B match in the Bashundhara Group Federation Cup football held at Bashundhara Kings Arena on Tuesday.
 
Rahmatganj, the two times runners-up of the tournament, fought neck to neck with Mohammedan almost the proceeding and finally found the net when defender Rajon Hawlader broke the deadlock scoring the all-important goal in the 82nd minute of the match.

Mohammedan were reduced to 10 men in the 85th minute by the referee as Jahid Hasan Shanto was shown direct red card by the referee for his unsporting 
behavior during the match.

Mohammedan, the current runners-up of the competition, however, tried their 
best to stage a fight back in the match but they could not score any in the 
remaining proceeding and eventually they had to leave the field with empty 
hand.

In the remaining group B matches, the traditional black and white Motijeel 
outfit will play against Chittagong Abahani Limited, Abahani Limited Dhaka 
and Fakirerpool Young Men's Club on December 24, January 7 and February 4 
next respectively.

While the traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society 
will face against Fakirerpool Young Men's Club, Chittagong Abahani Limited 
and Abahani Limited Dhaka on December 24, January 21 and February 4 next respectively.
