Dhaka, 25 Feb — Defending Champions Abahani Limited became the first team to begin training camp for the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL).

Former national cricketer Hannan Sarkar, who joined Abahani as coach after
quitting as national selector supervised the practice session at the academy
ground of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

Almost all players, barring the cricketers who are playing the Champions Trophy,
took part in the first day’s training.

Abahani retained only three players—Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mosaddek Hossain
and Nahid Rana—from the previous squad that won them the title.

They roped in players like Mohammad Mithun,  Mrittunjoy Chowdhury,
Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby, Ripon Mondol, Anamul Haque in this season. Mominul
Haque, considered as Test specialist also joined Abahani this season.

But Abahani couldn’t retain the player like Afif Hossain who played a key role in
helping the side win the title.

DPL, the most coveted league of the country, is set to start on March 3. BSS
