Sheikh Russel KC earn third win in BPL

Dhaka, 30 April- Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra recorded their third win in the second phase of TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football when they beat Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-1 goals today (Saturday) at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.

In the day's match, Nigerian forward Ismahil Akinade and Kyrgyzstan defender Aizar Akmatov scored one goal each for Sheikh Russel who led the first half by 1-0 goal. Sakhawat Hosen scored the lone goal for Chittagong Abahani Limited.

Ismahil Akinade opened an account scoring the first goal for Sheikh Russel in the 32nd minute of the match while after the breather Aizar Akmatov doubled the lead scoring the second goal for Sheikh Russel converting a spot kick in the 51st minute of the match.

After that Chittagong Abahani were desperate to stage a fight back creating several scoring chances. Shakawat Hosen however managed to reduce the margin scoring a lone goal for Chittagong Abahani Limited in the 90+5th minute of the match, but it was too late to fight back for Chittagong Abahani in the remaining proceeding.

The day's win saw, Sheikh Russel KC secure 14 points from 13 matches while the port city team Chittagong Abahani Limited remained at their previous credit of 22 points playing the same number of matches.

Earlier, in the first phase, Sheikh Russel KC played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Chittagong Abahani Limited held at Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi.

Sunday's match: Mohammedan Sporting Club vs Swadhinata Krira Sangha at 3.30 pm at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
