Illegally occupied forest land being recovered in Gazapur on Tuesday 26 Nov 2024



Dhaka, Nov 26 - The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, in a joint operation on Tuesday, recovered six acres of lands worth Tk 50 crore in Kapilatoli Mouza under Rajendrapur East Beat of Gazipur's Sreepur upazila.

Moreover, the joint operation eradicated 120 illegal structures, including newly built and under-construction buildings.

Acting on the directive of the ministry’s adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the illegal structures were removed and lands recovered, said a media statement sent from the ministry.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Gazipur district administration and led by the Sreepur Upazila Nirbahi Officer. The joint forces included the Army, RAB, Forest Department and Police.

Such drive will continue to protect forestland, wildlife, and biodiversity, reads the statement. - UNB
