At least 26 Palestinians were killed and over 100 wounded in Israeli attacks near two humanitarian aid centres in southern Gaza, the territory's civil defence agency reported on Saturday.

According to agency spokesman Mahmud Basal, 22 people died near a site southwest of Khan Yunis, while another four were killed near a centre northwest of Rafah. Both incidents, he said, were the result of "Israeli gunfire."

Basal did not specify whether the attacks targeted the aid centres directly or occurred in their vicinity, but he emphasized the growing risks faced by civilians and aid workers in the region.

The strikes come amid ongoing hostilities that have severely impacted the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza's population, with international organisations warning of a deepening crisis.
