Jeddah, 24-07-2025 - The Kingdom of Bahrain, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Indonesia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, the League of Arab States (LAS), and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) vehemently condemn the recent ratification by the Israeli Knesset regarding the imposition of “Israeli sovereignty” over the occupied West Bank. This action is viewed as a blatant violation of international law and a direct infringement of several pertinent United Nations Security Council resolutions, most notably resolutions 242 (1967), 338 (1973), and 2334 (2016). Each of these resolutions underscores the nullification of measures aimed at legitimizing the occupation, particularly Israel’s settlement activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 1967.
They assert that Israel possesses no legitimate sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory and declare that this unilateral action lacks legal standing, failing to alter the legal status of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, especially East Al-Quds, which is recognized as an integral component of this Occupied Palestinian Territory. Furthermore, they contend that such Israeli policies will exacerbate regional tensions, particularly considering Israel's military aggression in the Gaza Strip, that have resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.
These countries call upon the international community—including the Security Council and relevant stakeholders—to fulfill their legal and moral obligations by urgently addressing the illegitimate Israeli policies that aim to establish a fait accompli through coercive means, thereby undermining the potential for a just and enduring peace and jeopardizing the viability of a two-state solution.
The parties reaffirm their commitment to the two-state solution grounded in international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, advocating for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Al-Quds as its capital. – OIC News
