Govt working to bring healthcare to people's doorstep: Dr Muhit
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. M A Muhit has said the government is working to bring healthcare services to people's doorsteps as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has already given instructions in this regard.
He made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists after inspecting the Bangladesh Institute of Health Management and the new building of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Savar today.
Dr Muhit said the government wants to restructure the country's health system to ensure healthcare for the people.
"The government wants to resolve the country's healthcare problems through realistic plans and initiatives, not merely through political statements or rhetoric," he said.
The government is working to resolve the accumulated problems caused by the neglect of institutions and deprivation of the people over the past nearly 17 years, as well as the crises created in all sectors and institutions, he said.
Dr Muhit further said that since the BNP government was formed, the Cabinet, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has been working tirelessly day and night for the past six months to provide some relief to the people and do something better for them.
"Among these, improving the healthcare system is the highest priority. That is why the highest-ever allocation for the health sector in the country's history has been made in this year's budget," he said.
He further said, "You have seen that from the very first day of forming the government, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has been working from 9am until late at night. Cabinet members and government officials are also trying to implement the government's action plans on time in line with the Prime
Minister's directives."
"Our government has moved away from the old-style politics and the politics of making statements. To those who talk about a new arrangement, we want to say that this is the new arrangement and the journey towards a new Bangladesh," he added.
Local lawmaker (Dhaka-19) Dr Dewan Md Salahuddin Babu, Savar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saiful Islam, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Fazle Bari, local leaders and various officials were present, among others, reports BSS.
