Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal has been hospitalized after experiencing chest pain during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) grounds in Savar on Monday.

Tamim, who was captaining Mohammedan Sporting Club, took part in the toss against Shinepukur Cricket Club but later complained of chest discomfort. Initially treated on-site, he was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

Tariqul Islam, a Mohammedan official, confirmed to UNB that Tamim is now receiving medical care at KPJ Specialized Hospital. “Tamim is under medical care at the moment. We urge everyone to pray for his swift recovery,” he said.

While Tamim’s condition was initially considered serious enough to warrant a potential airlift to Dhaka, medical personnel determined that the transfer was unnecessary due to his stable condition at the time. As a result, he was moved to KPJ Specialized Hospital, which is located close to the BKSP complex.

In light of the unexpected health scare, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to postpone its scheduled board meeting, which was set to begin at 12pm. The cricketing community is now hoping for a speedy recovery for the beloved former captain.
