BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir underwent eye surgery in a Bangkok hospital today.

"Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has undergone eye surgery successfully at 3:00 pm Bangladesh time. His wife Rahat Ara Begum is with him at cabin where he has been shifted after surgery,” BNP Media Cell Member Shairul Kabir Khan told BSS.

Earlier, the BNP Secretary General went to Bangkok for emergency eye treatment along with his spouse on early Monday.

Fakhrul felt eye problems last Monday and immediately went to the United Hospital in Dhaka. After undergoing tests there, the physicians suggested an urgent retina surgery. Then an appointment was made with Bangkok's Rutnin Eye Hospital and he left for Bangkok on that night, reports BSS.
