Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today left here for Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum, for eye treatment.

He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital by a Thai Airways flight at 11:15 am.

BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said Mirza Fakhrul underwent a retinal surgery on his eyes at Bangkok's Rutnin Eye Hospital on May 14.

On the advice of doctors, he is going to that hospital again for eye check-up.

Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul met BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at her residence Firoza in Gulshan here on Tuesday night.

The BNP secretary general was accompanied by party's Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain as they inquired about Khaleda Zia's health, reports BSS.
