Liberation War Affairs adviser Farook-e-Azam, Wikipedia
Dhaka, December 11: Advisor on Liberation War Affairs Faruk-e-Azam, Bir Pratik, said that legal action will be taken against those who fraudulently received allowances and privileges as freedom fighters.
The advisor said these things at a press conference on the Martyred Intellectuals' Day and Great Victory Day-2024 and the progress of the overall activities of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs in Dhaka today.
The advisor said, in my view, being listed as a freedom fighter without being a freedom fighter is a betrayal of the nation. This is not a minor crime, but a very big crime. When the matter is determined by the court, their certificates will be canceled and arrangements will be made for punishment.
The advisor on Liberation War Affairs said, we may also give an indemnity (general amnesty). Those who are not freedom fighters but are freedom fighters should leave here voluntarily. If they leave, they may get a general amnesty. And if that does not happen, we will accuse them of this fraud.
Faruq-e-Azam also said, we want those who are real freedom fighters, so that their dignity is not damaged in any way. We have to complete the rest of the work while keeping that intact. This is a difficult task for us. Hopefully, success will come in this case too.
Among others, the secretary of the ministry, Israt Chowdhury, was present at the time. – PID Handout
