Two diagnostic centres shut down in city's Chankharpul
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has shut down two diagnostic centres - Active Diagnostic and Health Aid - in Chankharpul in the capital over allegations of multiple irregularities.
The two establishments were closed during a drive conducted this afternoon.
The institutions were accused of issuing fake pathology reports, bringing patients from Dhaka Medical through a network of brokers, and providing substandard healthcare services, among other irregularities.
DGHS Additional Director General Professor Dr Zahid Raihan said the institutions had previously been warned and given opportunities to improve.
"They were warned and given opportunities to improve. Even though, there was no improvement in their standards. As a result, these two institutions have been shut down," he said.
A few months ago, a mobile court conducted drives at the two institutions over various irregularities. At that time, those responsible were arrested, fined Taka 150,000, and the institutions were shut down.
Later, the DGHS allowed them to resume operations on the condition that they would rectify the deficiencies. However, after they were again found involved in the same irregularities, the institutions have now been closed, reports BSS.
