Family strife: Mother kills self, poisons 2 daughters

Mother dead, two poisoned daughters critical in hospital.



Chandpur, Feb 22 - In a heartrending event at North Sripur village in Chandpur’s Hajiganj upazila, a family is grappling with the aftermath of a tragic death of mother and critical poisoning of her two daughters. 

Tania Akter, 27, and her two young daughters, Tabassum, 6, and Fateha, 4, were rushed to Chandpur Sadar General Hospital early Wednesday under distressing circumstances.

Tania, whose husband Kawsar Ahmed is currently working abroad in Malaysia, passed away on way to the hospital. 

The tragic incident of Tania ingesting poison and also giving the poison to her daughters is rooted in a family strife. 

The two young girls are now receiving medical care, fighting for their life in a critical condition.

Rashid, the officer-in-charge of Hajiganj Police Station, detailed that the household was alerted to the crisis by the sounds of distress early in the morning, prompting immediate action to seek medical help for Tania and her daughters.

This incident has cast a shadow of gloom in the community over family dispute.

The focus is now on the recovery of Tabassum and Fateha, as well-wishers from across the community and beyond pray for. - UNB
